Direction Vs Location

It is important  to understand the difference between Direction and Location.

We use a compass or Luo Pan to determine a Direction.  It is represented by the 360 degree bearings on a compass. We only take into consideration the 8 directions namely N, NE, NW, S, SE, SW, E and W.

We use the annual Flying Star Chart to determine a spot or a Location.   There are 9 locations namely N, NE, NW, S, SE, SW, E, W and Centre.

For example a door’s Direction is the angle to which the door faces (according to the compass) whereas a door’s Location refers to the spot where the door is located (according to the Flying Star Chart).

Location always takes precedence over Direction.  We first determine the Location then we use Direction to further strengthen the chosen Location.

I will explain further about the 2018 Flying Star Chart in the next posting.

Attached are 2 diagrams to further explain Direction vs Location.
